no it's an earthquake.
Geothermal energy is from heated water within the earth's crust.
The surface of the earth moves violently in an earthquake. This occurs when there is a sudden release of energy in the earths crust. Anything from a volcano to a tectonic plate shift can cause an earthquake.
The sudden vibration in the plates inside the crust causes the earths crust to rise & fall.
The earth's crust is not stress
A shift in the earth's crust to relieve pressure, and therefore release energy, is an earthquake.

no it's an earthquake.
it can be found on earths crust
Geothermal energy is from heated water within the earth's crust.
The Earths crust is approximately 650 km deep.
An earthquake occurs deep in the earths crust caused by the displacement of two faults in the crust. Directly above the fault on the earths surface is called the epicenter. Which shows the aftermath of the strike slip fault that occured in the earths crust. So the strike slip fault is the effect of the displacement of the crust at that point deep in the earths crust which causes an earthquake to happen whenever there is a displacement of two faults.

When a shift occurs in the Earth's crust, the energy can radiate as seismic waves. These waves travel through the Earth's interior and can be detected and measured by seismographs. Depending on the type of fault movement, the seismic waves produced can be either compressional (P-waves) or shear (S-waves).
Geothermal Energy is energy that is drawn from heated water within the Earth's crust.
