The most powerful star recorded to date is the Pistol Star observed by the Hubble Space Telescope. The Pistol Star is estimated to generate 10 million times more energy than Earth's sun. This means that the Pistol Star would produce more energy in 6 seconds than the Earth's sun would produce in a year. Wow! The Pistol Star is 93 million miles away from our planetary orbit though, so no worries :)
