There are at least two different plants known as the butterfly plants. There is Asclepias tuberosa, known as the Butterfly Weed and there are the 100 or so species of plants in the genus Buddleja, also known as the Butterfly Bush.
Pinching chrysanthemums promotes branching and more compact growth, which in turn leads to increased flower production. By pinching, you encourage the plant to develop more flower buds, resulting in a fuller and more floriferous plant. Additionally, pinching can help synchronize flowering times for more uniform blooms.
Blooms of certain dinoflagellates are associated with all of the following: red tides, harmful algal blooms (HABs), production of toxins, and increased water turbidity.
No, a Buddleja is not a fern. Buddleja, also known as butterfly bush, is a flowering plant known for attracting butterflies with its colorful blooms. Ferns, on the other hand, are a type of non-flowering plant that reproduces via spores and is known for its feathery or lacy foliage.
Removing the top of a plant, known as apical pruning, stimulates branching and growth in lower leaf nodes. This leads to more lateral shoots and ultimately more flower buds, as the plant redirects its energy towards producing blooms instead of growing taller.
It is helpful if you add mulch to your butterfly bushes for the winter. I have lost some by not doing so. The Black Knight butterfly bush has one of the darkest blooms, nice choice.
Horseradish blooms in mid-summer, if it blooms at all. Most horseradish sold in the United States is sterile and is propagated through the tubers/roots instead of seeds from flowers.
you can but when it blooms it will droop and wont be as nutritous
Cassia/Senna plants are the plants they seek first, to lay eggs. Their caterpillars eat the leaves and blooms of these plants. For flower nectar, they often choose plants with red and/or purple blooms.

Butterfly bush is a very hardy and woody shrub. It grows at a fairly fast rate if it's happy in it's environment. Ordinary garden soil should be fine. The old fashioned purple butterfly bush is very hardy and drought tolerant and blooms from spring on through late summer in either full sun or part shade. I have several varieties of butterfly bushes and find the yellow butterfly bush is the slowest growing. The old fashioned purple is about 5 years old is about 6-7 feet tall. The yellow is still the same height as when I bought it about 3 years ago. I live in the upper south and prune the butterfly bush in the early spring, about when the forsythia blooms. It seems to produce healthy, long lasting flowers and is a favorite in my garden with butterflies and hummingbirds. I think in good garden conditions, you'll see a moderately fast grower, about 3-4 in diameter, if not more.
You cannot tell if pampas grass is male or female until it blooms. The female blooms with feathery, attractive blooms.
