This is an eclipse of the moon.
The last good total lunar eclipse completely visible in India was on September 7, 2006. On March 3, 2007, the Moon set over India while an eclipse was in progress.
There are three types of solar eclipse.The most well-known type is a total eclipse. In a total eclipse the moon completely blocks the sun from view so that only the corona is visible.During an annular eclipse the moon is farther away than in a total eclipse and appears slightly smaller in the sky than the sun. As a result the sun will appear to form a ring around the moon.During a partial eclipse the moon only covers a portion of the sun. A total or annular eclipse will only appear as such along a relatively narrow path. Most places affected by the eclipse will experience a partial eclipse. A partial eclipse may also be seen for a time before and after a total or annular eclipse.
If there is a total lunar eclipse, everybody sees it as total. If there is a total solar eclipse, only people in a small part of Earth see it as total - most will see it as a partial eclipse, or not at all.
A total lunar eclipse can occur during a full moon phase. During this phenomenon, the Earth is positioned directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon and creating the eclipse.
We would have what is called a "Total Solar Eclipse." The Most recent Total Solar Eclipse happened in 1487. The Next Total Solar Eclipse will happen in 2079. An interval of approx. 601 years. But for lack of better explanation, we would have a solar eclipse that we get annually.

Obviously therefore the eclipse happens at the point when the side of the moon that faces us is in total shadow - indeed during the eclipse we are covered by that shadow. -- Immediately after a lunar eclipse, as soon as the moon moves out of the shadow, it is full.
