I think a treadmill is the best example of a non-chemical equilibrium system.

A runner runs on a treadmill at the same speed as the tread moves backwards underneath his feet. The position of the runner doesn't change.

A stress would be speeding up (or slowing down) the speed of the tread, which would be matched by a change in speed of the runner.
