Should science manipulate DNA

In the book of Genesis it discussed Noah and the flood. In Genesis 6:4 specifically, it mentions a line about angels known as Nephilim. The verse reads, "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterward-when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." It goes on from there to say people had become wicked, and that God regretted making them. This is when he decided on the flood to wipe the earth clean. Because of the mention of Nephilim and human hybrids just before the line about people becoming wicked, some people believe that God decided to purge the earth of altered DNA. For this reason, there are people in modern times that feel DNA manipulation is wicked, and will lead God once again showing his displeasure.

Depends on who is manipulating it. DNA alteration could have great potential benefits for mankind, and could help various species deal with the vast environmental changes caused by humans. However, if put into the wrong hands, DNA manipulation could be incredibly detrimental to the environment, an existing example being the various new types of genetically modified crops that are taking over and destroying vast amounts of its naturally occurring competition. However, humans tend to mess things up, so I would say that it is not in ones best interest to mess with billions of years worth of naturally occurring genetic manipulation.
