In electroplating, a dish is filled with a mixture of water and salt of the metal that is to be used as the coating. The object to be plated, along with a metal bar that is not affected by the bath is immersed into the dish. The object to be coated is connected to the negative terminal of a battery, and the battery is connected to the metal bar. When?æ power is turned on, the electroplating begins to form an alloy on the object to be coated. The longer it is left in the bath, the thicker the coating becomes.
galvanized sheet metal Zinc coated sheet steel, to limit corrosion of the steel. The zinc is usually applied in molten form by a hot dip process, but occasionally is applied using electroplating to get a more even coating.
The 1kg magnet will exert a greater force on the 0.5kg piece of steel, causing them to move towards each other. The 0.5kg steel piece will accelerate faster towards the magnet due to the greater force acting on it by the magnet.
Both metals are ferromagnetic but unless at least one piece has been magnetized they won't be attracted to each other.
Adding energy to a piece of solid steel can increase its temperature, causing it to expand or even melt if the energy input is high enough. Additionally, the steel could undergo phase changes, like from solid to liquid. Highly concentrated energy input, such as from a laser beam, can result in rapid localized heating and even vaporization of the steel.
Electroplating is done to keep old ,unwanted and cheap metal from rusting example getting aluminium or ironand pouting a nice coat of silver and /or gold to make it noticeable and to keep it from rusting.

Electroplating mild steel enhances its corrosion resistance, extending the lifespan of the metal in various environments. It also improves surface hardness and wear resistance, making it suitable for applications where durability is crucial. Additionally, electroplating can provide aesthetic benefits, allowing for a variety of finishes and colors to be applied. Overall, these advantages make electroplating an effective method for enhancing the performance and appearance of mild steel.
Cans which are made from steel, are electroplated with tin. (This is safe for storing food)

Stainless steel can be effectively coated by using methods such as electroplating, powder coating, or painting. These processes help to improve the appearance, durability, and corrosion resistance of the stainless steel surface.
Electropolishing. This is similar to an electroplating process, in reverse, and many plating shops can do it.
Doubt it because the piece of steel is not magnetized.
Tin is used for electroplating. it is also used to make cans.
Galvanizing is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron to prevent rusting, typically done by hot-dipping. Electroplating is a process where a metal is deposited onto an object using an electric current, often for decorative or protective purposes. The key distinction is that galvanizing specifically refers to coating with zinc, while electroplating can involve various metals.
what would happen if a large piece of steel wool was used? A much smaller piece
Only by inducing a magnetic field within the "unmagnetised steel".
Yes, and no. There are certain bullets that are designed with extreme piercing in mind. Such bullets are important to the military. Most bullets, however, are not strong enough to pierce steel. It also depends on the type of steel involved. A 20 foot thick piece of steel could assuredly not be pierced by ANY bullet that is produced today. But a baking sheet thickness of steel could be pierced by steel. About 2 inches of steel can stop a bullet for most bullets :) If you're considering using a piece of steel to wear to get shot in- Just say no to stupid ;)
