Vientiane, Laos, is located on the Mekhong River across de city of Nongkai, Thailand. Altough Vientiane is a fairly big city, Luang Prabang is tecapital of Laos and lcated centrally in Las about 450 km from the Mekhong River. Nongkai is more like a bigger village. There is a bridge acros the river between the cities called the Friendship bridge.
