Fluorescents are always 3-4 times more efficient than halogens which are a version of incandescent bulb.
fluorescents are about 5x as efficientso a 12W will give about as much light
Light bulbs are primarily made of inorganic materials. The glass casing is composed of silica (sand), while the metal components, such as the base and filament (in incandescent bulbs), are typically made from metals like tungsten or aluminum. Some light bulbs, like compact fluorescents and LEDs, also contain inorganic phosphors and semiconductors. Overall, the materials used in light bulbs are largely inorganic in nature.
The efficacy of a bulb refers to the amount of visible light produced per unit of power consumed, typically measured in lumens per watt (lm/W). It indicates how efficiently a light bulb converts electrical energy into visible light. Higher efficacy values signify that a bulb provides more light for less energy consumed, making it a more energy-efficient choice. This metric is crucial for comparing different types of lighting options, such as LEDs, fluorescents, and incandescent bulbs.
Incandescents produce 10 lumens per watt, halogens about 13 lumens per watt, fluorescents and LEDs 40-50 lumens per watt. Lumens measure the brightness, watts measure the speed at which electrical energy is used.
fluorescents.[;
Fluorescent have had an impact on ozone. They do destroy it.
Fluorescents do offer some savings, but the new way to go is through the Green bulbs. Fluorescents provide a hermonic sound that can provide health problems including headaches and migrains.
PCH: Fluorescents
Depending on the length, between 30 and 60 Watts of power for fluorescents and around 10 Watts for LED T8'sHeat is negligible for the LEDs, and almost negligible for Fluorescents*exact numbers not available at the moment.
Fluorescent lighting is the number one used lighting used in offices. You can find out more at PG&E.com.
Some people can actually see a strobing effect when they use fluorescent lights and they drive them nuts. Standard fluorescents have a very yellow-green glaring distortion in their color spectrum. Doing detailed work under them can be really hard on the eyes. I only use 5500-6500K full spectrum fluorescents because they are the most natural light you can get, even better than incandescent (which is high in yellows and reds). Full spectrum fluorescents help me match colors and is easier on my eyes than other types of light when I use the computer. When you stare at the screen and look away it's better for your eyes if the ambient light is as natural as possible. Full spectrum fluorescents are used in the treatment of S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder, or seasonal depression) so they can be good for you.
32watt fluorescents are the best light bulbs because they create soft and even lighting with no shadows.
LED tube lights replace fluorescents by using light-emitting diodes (LEDs) instead of fluorescent tubes to produce light. LEDs are more energy-efficient, have a longer lifespan, and do not contain harmful chemicals like mercury, making them a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective lighting option.
Fluorescents are curly-cues, where as incandescents are the classic (now banned) bubble-shaped ones.
compact fluorescents are lowest in energy use for most houshold applications
Yes you can.
