It's always difficult to know how "nice" a person was, unless we have accurate accounts of how she or he interacted with others on a daily basis. However, there are strong evidence of Faraday being a person of high moral character, concerned with improvement of all society.

1) Refusing to personally profit from his many discoveries.

2) Being elected as an elder in his local congregation.

3) Volunteering to give science lectures to the general populace each year on Christmas.

4) Serving on various government posts for improving the lives of all.

5) Refusing to develop chemical weapons.

It is true, of course, that a person can be very generous in public life, and a real pain to others personal life -- and vice-versa. There is no evidence, however, that Faraday was one of these people.
