Taupo, pronounced tau-po is not a hole. It's a town in New Zealand, on the shores of Lake Taupo, held to be sacred by the ancient race of the Maori (pronounced maw-ree). Taupo is the Maori word for that lake, its' pretty, nice and good to most people. In New Zealand, some decades ago, some places, towns or cities, even a home, was called, colloquially, a "hole" IF the person speaking didn't like it. A cold old hole, then, was an old house the person didn't like, especially if it were too cold in the winter. I can garantee that Taupo is NOT a "hole", its' quite nice there, pictueresque and clean. Taupo the township and Lake Taupo are both situated near the middle of the North Island of New Zealand, the nation to the east of Australia.
