When submerged in water, Kevlar can become up to 20 times stronger than steel. It can also withstand temperatures up to 300°C while still retaining its strength properties. Even at -196°C, Kevlar shows no signs of loss of strength. Almost all solvents are ineffective at corroding Kevlar except some very powerful acids. Kevlar, however is known to degrade when exposed to UV radiation.
