Aside from the danger of looking at the Sun, no harm can come to you as the direct result of a solar eclipse.

Some indirect dangers from a solar eclipse:

1. If you are driving and another driver starts watching the sky instead of watching the traffic, it would be dangerous.
2. While it doesn't get as dark as real nightfall, the ambient light falls rapidly during an eclipse. Watch your step; you could step in a pit, or walk off a cliff.

Pretty minor stuff, huh? A solar eclipse is not at all dangerous.

A solar eclipse has one minor disadvantage, which is not really the fault of the

eclipse. Even without any ballyhoo in the newspaper or on TV, when the solar

eclipse is in progress, the sun takes on a weird shape, and the day may even

turn dim and dingy for a while. The reaction of some uninformed people is always

to stand there and stare at the sun. This is always a stupid move, and can easily

lead to permanent damage of one or both eyes, and there are always cases of

that exact sad result after every solar eclipse.
