What subsance has a solid form that floats on its liquid form?

All pure substances do. Many substances with mixed compositions do also, although not all (for instance, you'll never see cotton as a liquid... or liquid wood...).

Suppose you were given an unknown liquid and asked to determine if it was an element a compound or a mixture What would you do How would this help you find out what it was?

If I was given an unknown liquid and asked to determine if it was an element, a compound, or a mixture I would heat the unknown liquid up to see if any compounds separated from the unknown liquid. After that I would get a microscope and look to see if it is a pure element. Then I would get a Platelet separation machine and put the liquid in the machine to see if the liquid separated. Thats how I would determine if the an unknown liquid is an element, a compound, or a mixture.

Identify the physical state of the substances pictured?

I'm unable to see or analyze images directly. However, if you describe the substances or provide their names, I can help identify their physical states based on that information. Common states of matter include solid, liquid, gas, and plasma, and their characteristics can help determine which state they are in.

Is heterogeneous mixture a solution?

A solution is a solid (the solvent) dissolved in a liquid (the solute). A heterogeneous mixture is two substances in different states (i.e. a gas and a liquid) that are in the same space and are in contact with each other. When you have a solution that is a gas-gas or a liquid-liquid or possibly a solid-solid solution, the matter of greater amount is the solute. A solution is an example of a homogeneous mixture (can't see the particles with a naked eye). But with heterogeneous mixtures, you can see the particles.

Is bicarbonate of soda is liquid or or gas?

I am sure it is a solid because you cant pour it so it is not a liquid and it is not a gas because you can't see a gas and you can see bicarbonate of soda.So it has to be a solid.

Why does a container with no liquid or solid not be empty?

It has air inside and other substances which we cannot see with our naked eye. Air is matter so unless the container is a vacuum it will not be empty.

Why do you considered chemistry as a central science?

Because everything that you touch, see, smell and feel is made up from atoms. Chemistry is the study of how these atoms interact to make new substances, how these substances interact, and how the properties of these substances depend upon their structure. So in a sense, Chemistry explains something about everything!

Is chemical changes able to change?

No Chemical changes are not reversible. If you fry an egg, you will see the white change from a liquid to a solid. How ever, when you remove the egg from pan, the white does not change back to liquid on your plate. The substances present have reacted chemically preventing a physical change from occurring.

What is coarse mixture?

a coarse mixture is a mixture of substances which when you mix all substaNces you can see the ingredients or substances that are mixed it is not dissolved.. a perfect example of it is a halo-halo a coarse mixture is a mixture of substances which when you mix all substaNces you can see the ingredients or substances that are mixed it is not dissolved.. a perfect example of it is a halo-halo

Why do you feel colder after meals?

You may feel cold after cold meals such as a smoothie or salad. The cold substances go into your warm stomach and make you feel cold. For example, if a really rainy day happened, and then the sun came out, you would see steam rising off of the ground. The water is evaporating. So that's what makes you feel cold.

In the Mixtures lab you waited to see if the liquid would form lumpy or fluffy masses which would indicate it was a?

heterogeneous mixture. Lumpy masses would suggest that the substances did not fully mix together, while fluffy masses would indicate a more homogeneous distribution of particles in the liquid.
