Mount Misti is located in North Central Andes, Peru. Mount Misti is a large steep volcano built up of alternating layers of lave (magma). Mount Misti is a stratovolcano which means it is built up of mainly layers of ash and lava. Mount Misti is active, and geologists say that if Arequipa keeps having earthquakes there might be a future eruption. The last time Mount Misti had a large eruption was 1985.
