Arboviruses, or arthropod-borne viruses, are viruses transmitted by insects (vectors) to humans.

There are three families of arboviruses:

  1. togaviruses (e.g. eastern equine encephalitis, western equine encephalitis)
  2. bunyaviruses (e.g. rift valley fever, sandfly fever)
  3. flaviviruses (e.g. yellow fever, dengue fever)
