What is the difference between dustless chalk and normal chalk?

* The particles of dustless chalk are very heavy and tend to fall directly to the floor instead of floating in the air, while the particles of the normal chalk floats in the air. * The dustless chalk writes smoothly without scratch, while the normal chalk leaves some scratches on the board. * The dustless chalk does not break easily while the normal chalk breaks easily.

Does Crayola dustless chalk leave an oil residue which is hard to remove?

Yes, the dustless chalk does leave an oily residue which is hard to remove. The reason for this is because in order to rid the chalks of dust producing qualities, moisture needs to be kept in the chalks. I recommend Mr Magic Eraser or a regular cleaner is fine. It needs to be something soapy to break through the grease.

Dustless chalk is typically made using calcium carbonate, which is mixed with a binder such as gypsum or clay to reduce dust creation during writing. Other additives like pigments for color and a wax emulsion for smoothness may also be included in the manufacturing process.

What is chalk dust made of?

Chalk dust is primarily made of calcium carbonate, a type of limestone composed mainly of calcite. It also contains small amounts of other minerals, such as quartz, clay, and mica. When chalk is used on a blackboard, the friction creates the dust that we see.
