The main problems facing most of the community development and volunteer organizations are in three major areas, funding, expertise, and organizational structure. Jocelyn Taliaferro (2012) of North Caroline State University looks at the problem facing the church and other non-profit organisation that many have little administrative capacity or no administrative office other than the Pastor's office. She further mention that few churches had the full compliment of administrative capacity and support required to manage the types of projects and activities that would lead to the type of economic development that was expected, desired, and needed within the community. Jocelyn thinks that many people thought that the church or charity organization duty is to assist the community in areas of social action and community economic development.

Shortage of funds is the main challenges and the community organization has no alternative to increase the capital as explain by a post by Majagi (2009)
