the rainforest consists of four layers. this is called the strata. the strata's layers are the forest floor, understory, canopy and the emergents.

the forest floor is the floor of the forest and is home to animals like tigers and many insects. the decomposing of dead leaves and fallen trees happens here from algae and insects.

the understory are where smaller trees or bushes grow and this is where lianas grab onto other trees for survival.

the canopy is the roof of the rainforesy and is home to many birds! tree frogs and other animals also live here, some dont even move from here their whole lives! this shelter or roof collects most of the wind, rain and sunlight so it is hard for other things below it to get them

the emergents are literally the trees that are the tallest of the tallest. they are higher than all the others of the canopy and it is said that these are the grandparents of the forests.
