...I believe that the area that suffers the highest number of thunderstorms is on the norfolk / suffolk border (the Lakenheath / Thetford Forest area). This is because the area experiences a continental style climate with warm (occasionally hot) summers. Therefore it suffers home grown storms but also those imported from the near continent as its geographical location means that anything moving north / northeastwards out of France tends to hit this area of England. I would estimate that the area experiences around 20 days of lightning activity per year - please correct me if I'm wrong....
