Move the tectonic plates, there by creating earthquakes and volcanoes etc.,

The core of the Earth is liquid iron/nickel. It is VERY HOT.

This core rotates in a different direction to the surface of the Earth, where we are.

Because it is very hot and rotataing differently, it makes the mantle convent, a bit like water in a boiling kettle, but much more slowly.

This convection in ther mantle , makes the tectonic plates move. In doing so the plates bump into each other, slide past each other, or separate from eacg other. This creates mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.

So that's what the mantle does for us.

NB There is a lot more mechanics going on in the Earth, which also effects human activity.

What are the differences of crust and mantle?

The Earth is made up thus: Inner core, outer core, mantle, crust. We live on the crust, with semi-plastic molten rock forming much of the mantle beneath us.

Why do scientists look at the ocean floor to research the mantle?

We look at the ocean floor to study the mantle because the ocean floor is made from rocks that were once part of the mantle but have be changed. These changes can be undone to a certain degree, and can allow us to study at the very least the major changes of the shallow mantle.

What are the part of the mantle?

The upper mantle and the lower mantle.

What two layers is the mantle divided into?

The mantle is divided into the upper mantle and the lower mantle. The upper mantle lies directly beneath the Earth's crust and extends to a depth of about 410 miles. The lower mantle extends from the bottom of the upper mantle to a depth of about 1,800 miles.

How does the outer mantle and the inner mantle differ?

the inner mantle is hotter than the outer mantle.

What is the name of the lower part of mantle and the upper part of mantle?

The lower part of the mantle is called the "lower mantle" or "mesosphere", while the upper part of the mantle is referred to as the "upper mantle" or "asthenosphere".

The section of earth beneath the crust?

What are the 2 layers of the mantle?

The mantle is divided into two main layers: the upper mantle and the lower mantle. The upper mantle is closer to the Earth's crust and is more rigid, while the lower mantle is hotter and flows more easily due to higher temperatures and pressures.
