no that isn't true. however you shouldn't let them get too long. Bleeding from the nail will occur if when you cut the nail you cut it too short, in most guinea pigs the nail colour changes, it starts off a pinky red colour and then goes to a white/clear colour. Never cut past/onto the pinky red colour. Laura (owner of 3 guinea pigs).
