Tides are caused due to the gravitational pull of the moon and the earth Ocean Water gets more attracted towards it resulting in High tides , the sides facing the moon when high tide reaches maximum height it comes back due to gravity by which wave is produced here the water particles lets say a ship will just move up and down just and energy is transfered each high tide has its amplitude when in the continental shelf , near the continent its lower part collides with the surface beneath its energy is converted into kinetic motion and it attained height
Tidal movement produces energy when tidal generators are placed in areas where the movement of the tide is dramatic. This movement causes the turbines in the generators to turn and produces motor movement.

Tidal Turbines work when the tide goes in and out. The force from the movement of the water spins the turbines.
Tidal streams are caused by the gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun acting on the Earth's oceans. The alignment and relative positions of these celestial bodies create variations in the water levels, resulting in the movement of tides. Geographical features of coastlines and ocean floor topography also influence the speed and direction of tidal streams in different regions.

I do not know if even the Caspian Sea has tidal movement which is measurable: I'd be surprised if it has, but then I've been wrong before....
