Herschel was the man who discovered Urine's, the seventh planet in the Solar system. This was the first addition to the list of planets known from antiquity. He established the usefullness of big telescopes with large aperture and high magnifying power in astronomical probes. More than half of the nebulae known today were first observed by Herschel. With his observations on star pairs, he proved that the laws of gravity hold good beyond the solar system as well. He suggested the existense oInfrared rays also
