Half-moon Half-Earth
Summer. It's caused by the Earth being at an angle to the sun (nothing to do with closeness to the sun).
Half of Earth is illuminated by the sun at all times.
Each half of the earth is called a hemisphere. These are divisions of Earth's sphere that follow longitudinal and latitudinal lines to divide the earth into two parts. Earth can either be divided into to northern and southern hemispheres or eastern and western hemispheres.
One half of the earth is a hemisphere. There is a northern, southern, eastern, and western hemisphere.
The meridians of 0° and 180° longitude separate the east and west hemispheres.

What will the government do if the ocean over flows on half of the earth
The Earth's surface is made up of water and land. Approximately half of the Earth's surface is covered by water bodies such as oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers, while the other half is covered by landmasses.
Because the earth spins on it's axis with a sun on one side of the earth and the moon the other side of the earth and there is an imaginary line across half of the earth and which half gets on to the sun or moon side it is night and so that means the other half is day.
It the earth was half its mass, then it might only be able to hold half the atmosphere. In this case, it may not be able to maintain many species of life as we know it.
There is no such thing as half of the Earth. If you are referring to half of the spherical shape of the Earth then it will be a hemisphere.
