In all cases, the beliefs of the majority of scientists were shown to be false, and these false ideas were replaced by ideas that had the support of clear observational evidence.
At one point, evidence existed that white dwarf stars were older than 15 billion years old; which would place them older than the Universe. Better evidence of their age showed that they were instead about 12 billion years old.
Science doesn't suppress evidence contrary to accepted ideas. Indeed, it celebrates such contradictory ideas, hoping for a resolution.
