DNA is in a double helix which each of the two strands being complementary (i.e. opposites of each other).

This happens because there are four base pairs: A, C, G, T. (Adenine, cytosine, guanine, thymine.)

Each A can only bind with T. C can only bind with G.
In DNA the base pairs are Adenine with Thymine and Guanine with Cytosine.

In RNA Thymine is replaced by Uracil so the base pairs are Adenine with Uracil and Guanine with Cytosine.
