The Chenopod shrub is adapted to survive in arid environments with limited water availability by having the ability to store water in its leaves or stems, reducing water loss through small leaves or vertical orientation of leaves, and having a deep root system to access underground water sources. Additionally, some Chenopod species have developed mechanisms to excrete excess salt through specialized glands or structures, allowing them to thrive in saline soils.
A chenopod [Chenopodium spp] is a flowering plant, within the Angiospermae division of the Plantaekingdom. It's within the Amaranthaceae family. So it's related to beets [Beta vulgaris] and spinach [Spinacia oleracea]. Its common name is 'goosefoot'. One of its best known and loved members is 'quinoa'. It may be found on any one of six of the seven continents. It isn't found on Antarctica.
