At room temperature gold is already a solid, that is how we normally encounter it. If you make it colder, it is not going to freeze, since it is already frozen. Its appearance does not change.
Fool's gold is not a mineral, but rather a mineral known as iron pyrite. It has a brassy yellow color that resembles gold, hence the nickname "fool's gold." While it may look like gold, it does not contain any gold content.
Gold jewelry can be made of sold pieces, like a wire or hollow pieces like a pipe. Either can be real or fake. The purity of the metal used is what is important not if a pipe is used. With the price of gold so high today many gold manufactures are using different techniques to get a larger look with keeping the weight down. Hollowing out the piece is one way to do that
"Fool's gold" is a term used to describe the mineral pyrite, which looks similar to real gold but is actually iron sulfide. In kids' language, you could explain it by saying that fool's gold is a shiny mineral that may look like gold, but it's not the real thing.
Finding fool's gold (pyrite) in a creek does not guarantee the presence of real gold. It is possible that real gold could be present in the creek, but you would need to test the area further to confirm. Look for indicator minerals like black sand or other heavy minerals that often accompany gold deposits. Consider researching the geology of the area or consulting with a local geologist to increase your chances of finding gold. Happy panning!
probably not as in not expedient, if we look at green gold (an admixture of Cadmium) to bring it to perfection is difficult, that equates to cost. i'm lost as to the 'why' of creating exotic alloys for jewelry. as gold becomes more expensive alternatives such as aluminum bronze exotics become more attractive financially but not less attractive as a gold look alike.
