O stands for Oxygen. O2 is just a molecule consisting of two oxygen atoms.

Added:

In the Periodic Table Oxygen, symbol O, stands for the atomic element number 8, the first in group 16

By convention only single atom symbols, such as O and H and C, are used in the periodic table, so you will not find O2 in it.
The elemental symbol O stands for oxygen.

O2 is the diatomic molecule of oxygen. Molecules are not on the periodic table, elements are.
