Reproduction means (in simple language) is to have a baby.

With single cells, reproduction is when cells go through mitosis and divide.

However, unlike single cells, multi-cells organisms have a different way of producing offspring.

ANIMALS-what animals do is that the male produces a gamete cell (a cell with only half the number of chromosomes) called a sperm. During sexual intercourse, the sperm cell is released and it goes in the female gamete cell, the egg, thus making the egg fertilized. It matures, comes out, and ta-da, a baby.

PLANTS-plants reproduce by spreading seeds. These seeds are fertilized by animals (like bees and butterflies). The animals pollinate the plant. The male cell goes into the ovary and fertilizes the seed. When the time is right, the plant disperses the seed and it gets planted. ta-da, a new plant.

That's reproduction.
