A synthetic upper refers to the material used on the outer part of a shoe, typically made from man-made materials such as polyester, nylon, or polyurethane. This material is often used as a more cost-effective and durable alternative to natural materials like leather.
"Synthetic" refers to something that is artificially created or manufactured, rather than occurring naturally. It can apply to a wide range of products or substances, such as synthetic fibers in clothing or synthetic chemicals in food.
The upper part of a boot refers to the portion that covers the foot and often extends up the ankle or leg. It is typically made from materials like leather, synthetic fabrics, or rubber and includes components such as the shaft, vamp, and tongue. The upper provides support, protection, and style, contributing to the overall fit and function of the boot.

Methamphetamine, or desoxyephedrine, is a synthetic stimulant drug. It is not found naturally, although closely related chemicals are. For example, ephedrine, which is very closely related to methamphetamine (save for one oxygen atom) is found in a number of plants, including some that grow wild in the USA ("mormon tea").
If you are using the term 'upper crust' euphemistically and not to refer to bread or pies, then the upper crust is made of aristocrats. If you mean the upper part of the earth's crust, then it is made of the lightest elements from which the planet is made (silicon, aluminum etc).

I am assuming that you mean the three little icons, usually on clear plastic but themselves gold? They refer to the shoe's upper, its lining, and its sole. If the shape beside a diagram of a shoe has the outer layer highlighted, that means the shoe is made of synthetic materials; if the shape beside the shoe has the lining highlighted and the shape beside it is a diamond, that means the lining is synthetic. Recently though we are seeing more shoes iwith synthetic uppers but leather linings. If the sole is highlighted and has a diamond next to it you are wearing a synthetic soled shoe. So, a leather upper/synthetic lined/leather soled shoe would have the following: next to the outer of the shoe - the icon shaped like a leather skin; next to the lining icon a diamond, and lastly next to the icon with the sole lighlighted, this would be the leather skin also. Hope I have not confused matters further.
