Jade is extremely tough because of its fibrous texture. Very hard to fracture. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5, which means it will scratch window glass or a typical knife blade. If rubbed across a non-glazed porcelain tile, it will leave a white streak. It also has a density of around 3.3 if you are able to calculate it. There are other ways to identify it if you have a lab or access to one, otherwise a visit to a university geology department or a jeweler would be helpful.
