Transportation in the water cycle refers to the movement of water around the planet.

Water moves underground through the soil, eventually returning to the ocean.

It moves as surface water, (rivers and runoff) returning to the ocean.

It moves in the air as water vapor, which is invisible. When the air cools, the water vapor changes into tiny water droplets that form fog, mist and clouds (the process of condensation). If the clouds form from evaporation over the ocean, move over land and rain on the land, the water has been transported from the ocean to the land, completing the Water Cycle.

Transportation also refers to the movement of water in a plant, from the roots to the leaves. When the water has carried nutrients up to all parts of the plant (as sap) some of the water goes out of the leaves into the air (called transpiration).

This may seem like a small amount of water being moved from the soil to the atmosphere, but a large area of vegetation, such as the Amazon Rainforest, can create its own local Water Cycle of evaporation and rainfall by doing this.

What does the word water cycle mean?

The continuous process by which water is circulated throughout the earth and the atmosphere through evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and the transpiration of plants and animals. Also called hydrologic cycle.

What does cycle mean apply this word to the water cycle?

Generally, cycle refers to a series of continuous, related events that happen over and over. Water cycle: a continuous series of related events in which water in the ground or in the ocean are heated by the sun and change into very small drops of liquid. These drops rise into the air or into the ocean as rain.

What does the word sublimation mean in the water cycle?

In the water cycle, sublimation refers to the process by which water transforms from a solid (ice or snow) directly into water vapor without melting into a liquid first. This occurs primarily in cold environments when there is enough energy for the water molecules to transition from a solid state to a gaseous state.

Why does the water cycle keep going at night?

The water cycle continues at night because water on Earth's surface evaporates continuously due to factors like temperature and wind. Evaporation happens both during the day and night, so the water cycle, which includes processes like evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, remains active around the clock.

The process of plants taking up water from the soil and releases it into the air through the leaves. What is the word for this exept Water Cycle?

Transpiration.
