Hydrogen is the lightest of all elements. It is also the only element that has no neutrons in the most common isotope. Furthermore, it is commonly found in ionic form where it is stripped of all electrons where it exists as a single proton. When bonded to carbon, it can also make a "Hydrogen Bond" where it exhibits an amount of stickiness that is neither attributable to ionic or covalent bonding. When bonded to oxygen (and other elements), it has aspects of both ionic and covalent bonds.

Mercury is the heaviest element to be found in liquid state at room temperature, and the only metal to be a liquid at room temperature.

Carbon makes 4 bonds, and can bond to itself in single, double, or triple bonds. When it has 4 bonds, there are no unshared electrons, so it can make many non polar molecules. It can make a dissociative bond in benzene and graphite which is highly electrically conductive.
