This is a really good question and don't take me for my word but I would believe that if there is dry ice or CO2 then the that forms pockets of CO2 and that is what forms the carbonation. I am not positive but that is what sometimes causes carbonation. I hope that this helps you out. But like I said I am not positive. I am not a food expert but I know my science. :D
