As humans get old, so are cells. Their function are pretty much the same but they are much slower and not as effective as they used to be. For example, when an old person brakes a bone, the body ( the cells of the bone) cannot react in the way it was reacting at a young age, and the whole procedure takes much more time and maybe it won't be succesfull
