Neptune was discovered as the result of observed irregularities in the motion of Uranus and was the first planet to be discovered on the basis of theoretical calculations. J. C. Adams of Britain and U. J. Leverrier of France independently predicted the position of Neptune, and it was discovered by J. C. Galle in 1846, the day after he received Leverrier's prediction After noticing an anomaly in the orbit of Uranus, Le Verrier predicted that there may be another undiscovered planet that was pulling Uranus out of it's predicted orbit. He did the mathematical caluclations to make a prediction of where the planet should be seen. Nobody at the University of Paris (where he was studying) wanted to look for the planet, so LV asked d'arrest at the Berlin observatory. D'arrest didn't want to look either but another Berlin astronomer agreed to, his name was Galle. Galle already had a star chart from before and almost immediately found the planet about a degree away from where LV predicted it would be.
Neptune. There is a "Great Dark spot" on Neptune in which you could fit two Earths! However this enormous storm seems to surface and then vanish without warning. This has baffled scientists. Not to mention that the wind speed on Neptune is tremendous.
Scientists have observed Neptune for quite a while now that we are in the 21st century, but they are not sure of the speed. However, with help from the LK-9033 Telescope which entered Neptune's atmosphere the estimate the speeds to be over 10,000 km per hour.
The storm on Neptune that disappeared was called the Great Dark Spot. It was a large, dark, oval-shaped storm similar to Jupiter's Great Red Spot. Scientists believe it dissipated due to changes in Neptune's atmosphere.
Neptune has 13-14 moons. Scientists are not sure whether it is a moon or an asteroid.
On all planets containing gas, there will be some movement in their atmosphere. The atmosphere on Neptune some times moves at near supersonic speeds. I should think this qualifies for being a most powerfull storm.
Scientists can see Neptune with telescopes. Also, they have many photos of it from when the Voyager 2 passed by.
Yes, scientists say Neptune is shrinking as we know it.
The simple predicate is "have learned" because it shows the action or the verb that the subject "scientists" is doing.
no
They have learned that Earth revolves around the Sun.
list three things that the scientists learned about earth in the 1800's?
food
Which one? mars
that it is made out of red rocks
Scientists know, not think, Neptune has zero craters.Neptune is a gas giant. Gas giants do not have a solid rocky surface. Therefore nothing can impact against the planet to form craters.
Yes. Some scientists believe that Triton's orbit will decay completely and Neptune's gravity will tear the moon apart. Ofcourse.this changes the question to " Will neptune crash Triton? ".
its deadly to people over 50
