Fleming found that some bacteria produce antibiotics but by mistake. He made a streak plate and it became contaminated by a fungi. He noticed around the bacteria that there was a clear space and deducted that the clear space contained antibiotics made by the fungi. This fungi was called penicillin notatum. Later Florey and Chain actually isolated the substance called an antibiotic. This term means against life. This antibiotic was mass-produced and eventually was used by the troops in World War II.
Examples of biotic robot ideas include robots inspired by animals or plants to perform tasks such as surveillance (like a robot inspired by a butterfly for aerial reconnaissance), exploration (like a robot inspired by a snake for maneuvering through tight spaces), or search and rescue (like a robot inspired by a cheetah for fast mobility over rough terrain). These biotic robots mimic the natural movements and abilities of living organisms to enhance their performance in specific tasks.

World War I was probably not much of a factor in the discovery of penicillin. The man most associated with the discovery is Alexander Fleming who did not make his discovery until 1928. The first cures using penicillin were effected in the 1930's. World War I ran from 1914-1918. Others had observed some of the infection inhibiting of penicillium molds previously but there was no organized research or effort to develop them as medical cures. The one way World War I might have have had en impact on the development of penicillin is that Fleming served as a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps where he observed many of the soldiers dying from infection in their wounds. Seeing them dying from the infections undoubtedly motivated him to actively search for anti-bacterial agents.
