Red blood cells transport oxygen from the lungs to all the cells of the body. Plasma, the liquid part of the blood, delivers essential dissolved materials, such as nutrients, proteins, electrolytes and hormones. Plasma also carries away dissolved waste products such as carbon dioxide, urea and lactic acid. When needed, the white blood cells are available to fight diseases and the platelets can form clots to stop bleeding.
Plants don't have red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the heart and lungs of animals, not plants. Plants take in CO2 and expel O2, so plants don't need red blood cells.

Platelets, small yellowish cells in the body, that group together to seal openings in blood veins.
Red blood cells form the clots, while white blood cells seal it from below.
The living part of blood is the white blood cells (leukocytes) and platelets. These cells are responsible for fighting infections and forming blood clots to prevent excessive bleeding.
