Vancouver Island is more than twice the size of Prince Edward Island in land area and about five times more populous. Several mountains on Vancouver Island reach over 2100 meters in height (7000 ft.) while the highest point on PEI is 152 meters (499 ft.).

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, Vancouver Island has a land area of 31,285 sq. km. (12,079 sq. mi.). The island is 460 km. (285 mi.) long and averages 80 km (50 mi.) wide. The 2011 population of Vancouver Island was 762,042 according to Statistics BC. The largest city, Victoria (Capital of the province of British Columbia), had a population of 80,017.

Prince Edward Island's total land area is 5,656 sq. km (2184 sq. mi). The Island is 224 km (139 miles) long and between 6 km and 64 km (4 and 40 miles) wide. The 2012 population was 146,105. The capital city, Charlottetown, has a population of 34,562. All of the PEI statistics come from PEI's provincial government website.
