Bobcats are what are known as crepuscular animals. Diurnal animals are active during the day, while nocturnal animals are active at night. Crepuscular animals are active in the few hours after sunrise and the few hours before sunset. In the hours the bobcat is active, it will travel 3 to 11 kilometres (2 to 7 miles). During those hours the bobcat will hunt, mainly rabbits, but they also eat rodents, bats, birds, and if the bobcat is near a ranch it might also eat pigs, poultry, and lambs.
