Some people will argue that the use of such fossil fuels causes a greenhouse effect, aka global warming, with its use. But for every scientist that says this is true, there's another that will disagree.

Therefore let's stick to what is the absolute truth:

Fossil fuels are a non-renewable resource. Therefore when we deplete it, there's obviously none of it to use anymore as it can't renew itself, such as wind, sunlight, etc.

While it'll be a long time before we run out of these resources, they will eventually run out, forcing us to use alternative, renewable resources.

One thing about natural gas, however, is that it burns far cleaner than coal or oil, and is extremely abundant. The process to get it out of the ground after the well is drilled tends to be nasty (I know, I do it for a living), but the process is for just a short period of time (days) before the well can produce on its own without artificial lift.
