Any object which has a different molecule strcture . EG:- Solid:- Potatoe:- molecules are titely packed Liquid:- water:- Molecules are loosely packed gas:- oxygen:- no bond between molecules .

There are however certain rules as to how to perceive a compound.

Water is Extreemely interresting. It can be Gas (steam), it can be Liquid (Drinkingwater), and it can be Solid (Ice). Experts even say it can become metallic under immense pressure.

Most compounds (if not all), even metals, can become gas if only enough energy is transferred to it. Iron becomes a gas at 3134 K or 2861 °C or 5182 °F

What we normally consider to be a gas is a compound that is normally not found as either liquid or solid under normal conditions on earth.
