If the two solids are both metals, then the result is an alloy. However, cast iron for example is a mixture of carbon and iron, so technically it may be an alloy.

But a car tyre is made of rubber, chalk, sulphur, rosin, etc. I guess the only answer for this is a mixture.

If the two metals are in fluid solution, then it is a mixture.

Can two solids make up a solution?

No, a solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances, usually a liquid (solvent) and a solid, liquid, or gas (solute). Solids cannot make up a solution as they do not dissolve into each other.

What is an example of a mechanical mixture or a solution that is made up of two or more solids?

An example of a mechanical mixture of two or more solids is a bowl of mixed nuts, where you can physically see each type of nut separately. An example of a solution made up of two or more solids is saltwater, where the salt particles are dissolved in the water and cannot be visually distinguished from each other.

What is the result of mixing liquids called?

Products or solution. When two objects (solids, liquids or gases) are mixed, the original two are the reactants, where the new objects created are called the products. If the reactants are both liquid, they make up a solution.

A blended mixture of two or more solids liquids and gases is called what?

What distinguishes solution from non solution?

A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more liquids, only one phase. When another phase exist (for example solids, immiscible liquids) this is not a true solution.

What physical state are precipitates when they form?

Precipitates form whenever two insoluble ions are in solution, thereby leaving solution. They can form either gases or solids (usually solids).
