The male obturator foramen is a more oval-shaped opening while the female obturator foramen is more rounded or triangular. Additionally, the female obturator foramen is typically larger in size compared to the male obturator foramen.
The largest foramen in the skeleton is the obturator foramen. It is located in the hip bone or os coxae, which is part of the pelvis.
The largest foramen in the human body is the obturator foramen, located in the hip bone. It is a large opening that allows for the passage of nerves and blood vessels to the lower limbs.
This is the largest foramen leading to and from the pelvis. One of the structures is the sciatic nerve. The foramen might be somewhat "closed" by bone and can "pinch" the sciatic nerve. This is very painful and a person can't dorsiflex the foot. Surgery can open the foramen and reduce the pain and disability.

Alar Kivilo was born on February 17, 1953, in Montral, Qubec, Canada.
Alar was a fruit spray containing the chemical daminozide. Alar was used as a pesticide and sprayed on fruit, mainly apples, during the 60's, 70's and 80's. The concern of the effects from Alar began in the 80's. In 1986, traces of the chemical from Alar was found in applesauce and apple juice. Doctors began urging the Environmental Protection Agency to ban Alar at that time because Alar was shown to cause cancer in the laboratory of animals. It wasn't until 1989 when CBS ran a story on the harmful effects of Alar that the EPA finally stepped in and banned the fruit spray.
