To make Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS or ORESOL), dissolve 1 packet (or about 6 teaspoons) of ORS powder in 1 liter (about 4 cups) of clean, safe drinking water. Stir until the powder is completely dissolved. If you don't have ORS packets, you can mix 6 teaspoons of sugar and half a teaspoon of salt in 1 liter of water as a substitute. Always use boiled or treated water to ensure safety.
ORS reformulated volume per volume replacement: 100ml for every episode of LBM or vomiting. To prepare ORS: Dissolve 1 sachet in 200ml water. Maintenance Fluid: through IV Holliday-Segar Method 0-10 kg- 100ml/kg 11-20 kg- 1000 plus 50 ml for every kg above 10kg >20 kg- 1500 plus 20ml for every kg above 20kg I'm not sure but i think the ceiling is only up to 2400 ml..you cannot go higher than that. :) For example: 11 kg child 10x100= 1000 ml plus 1x50= 50 ml Total: 1050 ml in 24 hours 1050 ml divided by 24 hours = 43.75 or 44 drops per hour If using macroset, divide by 4, so it's 11 drops per minute. if using microset, no need to divide, so it's just 44 microdrops per minute. God bless!
