Lake Maracaibo Techinically, Lake Maracaibio is an inlet of the Caribbean Sea.
You are thinking of Lake Maracaibo, which technically isn't a lake, because it is connected to the Gulf of Venezuela, (which is in the Caribbean Sea) by the Tablazo Strait. The largest proper lake in South America is Lake Titicaca on the border of Peru and Bolivia.
We see Tablazo Bay or the Bay of El Tablazobetween Columbia and Venezuela. A link is provided to satellite photographs of the area (scroll down to see them all), and it is relatively easy to use one of the popular search engines to get maps and other images.
