What causes dysproteinemia?

Dysproteinemia is literally "abnormal protein in blood". Generally, the abnormal proteins are immunoglobins - the proteins made by the immune system to track down and adhere to pathogens to mark them for destruction. The causes can range from a simple acute immune reaction (for example, if you are fighting off a sinus infection) to chronic problems such as cancer or autoimmune disease. The specific immunoglobulinopathy will give a better indication of the cause.
