You must first know two other things - what is the generator output voltage, and is it single-phase or three-phase? For single-phase: Current (amps) = (Kva X 1000) / volts For instance, if the generator supplies 240 volts single-phase, the current would be 95.83 amperes: (23 X 1000) / 240 = 95.83 For three phase: Current (amps) = (Kva X 1000) / (volts X 1.73) For instance, if the generator supplies 480 volts three-phase, the current would be 27.7 amperes: (23 X 1000) / (480 X 1.73) = 27.69 In any case, the maximum current may be limited by the overcurrent device (circuit breaker). In the second example above, if the circuit breaker is 20 amperes, you could not use the whole 27.7 amps available.
